Strict / Balanced / Adaptive

Three generation modes that trade off caution against flexibility.

The three modes

Strict

Maximum caution. Broad refusals, tight scope, conservative output. Best for regulated or high-stakes domains.

Balanced

The default. Sensible guardrails with room for helpful, natural responses. Best for most products.

Adaptive

Context-aware guardrails that scale with detected risk — lighter on benign requests, stricter on sensitive ones.

Mode shapes the generated prompt only. Your policy still governs enforcement on the output, so the two layers reinforce each other.
